About Melanie Marod
Melanie was born and raised in Spring Lake, Michigan where she began singing and expressing her love for music at the age of seven. By age ten, she had performed in the musical Sweeney Todd with Tony Award Winner George Hearn and Tony Nominee Pamela Meyer. Melanie graduated Cum Laude from Hope College with a B.A. in Musical Theatre. She studied Opera in Buenos Aires, Argentina at Instituto Universitario Nacional de Las Artes and Hillsong College in Sydney, Australia.
Since moving to New York she has performed at Birdland, The Blue Note, The Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel, The Carlton, as well as many other noteworthy clubs in the city. She sang on the soundtrack and appeared as a wedding singer in the movie “God’s Behaving Badly” with Christopher Walken and Sharon Stone.
Melanie enjoys songwriting, and her influences are Stacey Kent, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, and Nat King Cole to name a few.
